Full Day Tour of the La Viuda Mountain Range, Canta, and Obrajillo
DESCRIPTION
Embark on a journey that will take you from the city to the Andean skies north of Lima, where the intense blue of the sky, the fresh mountain air, and the turquoise waters of glacial lagoons create an unforgettable landscape. This tour invites you to leave behind the noise and speed of the capital and delve into a territory where life unfolds at the rhythm of nature and the mountains seem to speak in silence. The route leads us through the Chillón River valley, following its crystalline curves until we reach the La Viuda Mountain Range, one of the most breathtaking high Andean landscapes in the region, still relatively unexplored and far from the typical routes of mass tourism.
Along the way, we will pass through rural villages where Andean farmers keep their traditions alive: tiled roofs, tranquil plazas, colorful murals, and markets where potatoes, corn, and fresh cheese remain at the heart of daily life. Canta, known as the “Land of Eternal Ice,” welcomes you with a warm blend of history and serenity, while Obrajillo, with its meadows, waterfalls, and pristine rivers, invites you to walk, breathe, and reconnect. Here, the sound of the wind and water seems to have a different rhythm, slower, deeper.
Then, the ascent continues toward the La Viuda Mountain Range.
Where the mountains rise majestically and the high Andean lagoons shimmer like natural mirrors in the sunlight. Turquoise, emerald green, and deep blue hues intertwine depending on the time of day, the weather, and the angle from which you observe them. This is a perfect place for photography, contemplation, and connecting with the essential. You can feel the silence of the altitude, the immensity of the landscape, and the raw power of nature.
Ideal for those seeking to disconnect from the urban pace, breathe truly pure air, experience an intimate encounter with the Andean landscape, and discover corners that seem straight out of a painting. Each stop along the way offers a different scene: rivers winding among rocks, vicuñas grazing freely, snow-capped peaks reflected in crystalline lagoons, rolling meadows where the sun and clouds play throughout the day.

RECOMMENDATIONS
🌟 Recommendations
Before embarking on this Andean adventure, consider these suggestions to make the most of your trip:
👟 Wear warm clothing and comfortable shoes
You’ll be at over 4,500 meters above sea level, so bring a thermal jacket or windbreaker, a hat, gloves, and an extra sweater. The weather at high altitude can change rapidly. For walking among the lagoons, trekking shoes or sneakers with good traction are best.
🧴 Don’t forget sunscreen and sunglasses
At that altitude, UV radiation is high even on cloudy days. Also bring lip balm and a hat or cap.
💊 Bring altitude sickness medication (soroche)
If you’re not used to high altitudes, it’s recommended to bring altitude sickness medication or coca candies. You can also drink coca tea before the ascent.
🧴 Bring water and snacks
Although there are stops for lunch, it’s helpful to bring a water bottle and some nuts or crackers to keep your energy up during the trip.
📷 Bring a camera or cell phone with a fully charged battery
The scenery is spectacular: snow-capped mountains, colorful lagoons, colonial towns… You won’t want to miss a single shot. If possible, bring a portable charger.
💵 Bring cash
In mountain villages, there aren’t always POS terminals or ATMs. Cash will be useful for buying food, handicrafts, or using services like restrooms.
