ITINERARIO

Detailed Itinerary

Departure from San Pedro de Atacama

We begin our journey early in the morning, ascending from the oasis of San Pedro towards the high Andes. As we gain altitude, the landscape changes: the desert opens up and vast plains, volcanoes, and mineral formations typical of the altiplano begin to appear.

First stop: Licancabur Volcano Viewpoint

Our first stop is the Licancabur Viewpoint, where we admire one of the most iconic images of the desert: the imposing and perfectly conical Licancabur volcano, rising above the border with Bolivia. If wind conditions allow, we will enjoy breakfast here with an unforgettable view.

Second stop: Quepiaco River Wetland

We continue to the Quepiaco River Wetland, a high Andean oasis where the vegetation contrasts with the surrounding arid terrain. This place is ideal for observing vicuñas, alpine birds, and flocks of flamingos, as well as appreciating the natural balance between water, mountains, and desert. If the weather does not allow us to have breakfast at the viewpoint, this will be the place where we will enjoy it.

Third Stop: Pacana Viewpoint

We continue on to the Pacana Viewpoint, a panoramic spot that offers a breathtaking view of an ancient volcanic caldera. From here, we can understand the geological magnitude of the highlands: extensive valleys, dormant volcanoes, and a deep silence that dominates the landscape.

Monjes de la Pacana

Nearby, we find the famous Monjes de la Pacana, giant pillars of volcanic rock that rise vertically in the middle of the desert pampa. These unique formations have been shaped by millions of years of erosion and stand alone, like true guardians of the highlands. It is a special place to walk, feel the wind, and contemplate the immensity.

Salar de Quisquiro

We continue our route to the Salar de Quisquiro, located at an altitude of over 4,000 meters. The landscape here seems like something from another planet: white surfaces, mirrors of water reflecting the sky, and horizons that disappear into the distance. We will take a break to rest, take pictures, and appreciate the absolute tranquility of the salt flat.

Salar de Aguas Calientes

Our last visit is to the Salar de Aguas Calientes, known for its intensely colored waters that vary between turquoise, emerald, and reddish tones depending on the light and the minerals present.
This surreal landscape will leave you with one of the most memorable images of the trip.

Return to San Pedro de Atacama

We begin our return journey, descending once again towards the oasis, completing a tour full of high plateau landscapes, natural contrasts, and unique experiences in the Atacama Desert.
